Refresher

Right well, its that time of 'whatever' again, I feel like writing.

The new ward is basically a nursing home. Lots of bottom brown, feeding and personal care. Surprisingly though, the staff (except for a select few) are really hard workers.

At the start of the placement (I'm now going into the 4th week) I was skatty, not sure of the routine, then I got given the blue team (blue team rules), and got given 2,3 patients of my own. After about 5 shifts I started to get the jest of how this particular ward works.

Everyone is very helpful, no one rarely says no to you if you ask for assistance (with turning and changes etc). & My handover ability is getting better.
This is a brighter outlook, compared to my other placements right?
Despite my social life being shrunk due to being shattered...

Although everyone is nice and wouldn't say boo to a goose, there’s no need to use your brain, no need to figure out anything, except perhaps write a care plan, but any trained monkey can do that.

The ward is good, but mental stimulation would be nice and I'm thinking about how I'm going to get the rest of the branch skills signed off on a geriatric rehab ward, but we'll sort that when it arises.

University/Exam/Essay wise, exam results come out on Monday, I'm apprehensive, as everyone is when they think they've failed 40% of their exams. I've got Nursing and Society to rewrite, and I really should start revising for CAP2, I suppose so far I don't have a lot I would change (minus the failed essay/OSCE (I don't know if I have definitely, but sure feels like it, and don't give me that "I'm sure you did fine" stuff... I crashed on the Catheterisation).

On the upside, I have bought myself two early birthday presents...

Western Digital 500GB External Hard-drive and,

Logitech Z 10 speakers

So if I do fail the other essay and/or exam I can at least listen to music really loud whilst I revise/rewrite....

So to sum up, placement is ok-goodish, social life is not booming (but I don't mind), results are coming up so tread carefully, and I have bought shiny new toys.
